ATV operator arrested for DWI after crash outside Lobelia

A crash between a Jeep and a Honda ATV slowed traffic to a crawl on Lobelia Road Saturday night. Emergency units were dispatched at 7:25 p.m. to the area of Lobelia Road and Mt. Pleasant Lane in Mt. Pleasant, a community between Vass and Fort Bragg.

According to officials on scene, a Jeep was traveling west toward Vass when the operator of a Honda ATV, traveling with a group of ATVs, attempted to turn around in the road to go back and check on one of the other ATVs in the group.

When the ATV attempted a U-turn, a Jeep collided with it. Neither the operator nor the rider of the ATV was injured, but the ATV operator was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of driving while impaired, according to authorities.
