The Aloha Safari Rescue Zoo is mourning the death of one of its animals.
The Cameron zoo announced on its Facebook page their giraffe passed away.
“The outpouring of love and support that you have shown us with the passing of our beloved Stretch has been overwhelming,” said the staff and volunteers. “We can never express how much you all mean to us. We know he is eating all of the carrots he wants now, and he will forever be a part of Aloha.”
Stretch passed away on Friday “due to unforeseen natural causes.” The zoo rescued him 11 years ago.
Lee Crutchfield of Aloha Zoo said Stretch was on the television show “America’s Funniest Home Videos” twice.
They’re asking patrons to share pictures, videos, and memories of Stretch on the zoo’s Facebook page.
Aloha Safari Rescue Zoo is located at 159 Mini Lane, near the Harnett and Moore County line.
