Coffee lovers in the Sandhills will soon have another destination for their morning brew, as Starbucks confirmed plans to open a new location in the Morganton Park South development in “winter of 2025.”
Now nearing the end of development and construction, the new store is adjacent to the BJ’s Wholesale Club, expanding the coffee giant’s footprint in the rapidly developing commercial hub off U.S. 15-501.
A Starbucks spokesperson verified the upcoming opening in a statement to the Sandhills Sentinel, though a specific date was not given.
“Starbucks is always looking for great locations to better meet the needs of our customers, and we are happy to confirm that we will be opening a new location at Morganton Park South in Southern Pines, NC, during the Winter of 2025,” the spokesperson said.
The projected opening places the store’s debut in the middle of the holiday season, arriving just in time for customers to order from the chain’s winter menu. Popular seasonal offerings, such as the Peppermint Mocha and Caramel Brulée Latte, typically anchor the company’s winter lineup.

The Morganton Park South development has seen steady growth throughout the year, with the new Starbucks joining a retail mix that includes the recently opened BJ’s Wholesale Club and other national retailers.
While the new café will offer a dedicated storefront for the Morganton Park South shopping center, it will not replace existing locations in the area. The Starbucks café inside the neighboring Target, which anchors the same development, will remain open. Additionally, the company will continue to operate its established regional stores, including the standalone locations on Ivey Lane in Pinehurst and Columbus Drive in Aberdeen.
