A bicyclist was airlifted Sunday morning after being struck by a car on McCaskill Road in Eastwood, near the intersection with 15-501. Two bicyclist were riding when a Dodge Durango hit one of the riders.
Due to the extent of the rider’s injuries, a medevac helicopter was called to transport her to a trauma center. The patient was transported to a waiting helicopter at Eastwood Fire Department. The victim is in her late 30s.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol was on the scene and investigating the cause of the accident. Charges are pending against the driver of the car.
Responding to the accident were Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, and Moore County EMS.
