Boutique on a budget at LillieRose Thrifty Place Aberdeen

Moore County shoppers can spruce up their wardrobe on a budget thanks to the help of local fashionista Ruth Jones, owner of LillieRose Thrifty Place in Aberdeen.

Ruth’s passion for her business comes from a decades-long love of scouring thrift shops, yard sales, and estate sales for hidden treasures. “People would come to me asking where I found certain pieces,” explained Ruth. “After a while, I realized what I needed to do was collect things and open a shop to share my finds with others.”

It wasn’t until 2018 that Ruth’s dream finally became a reality. LillieRose Thrifty Place opened its doors for the first time in March of 2018, and business has been going strong in the past four years since opening. In addition to clothing, the secondhand boutique offers jewelry, shoes, accessories, and home accents.

According to Ruth, the best part of the process has been sharing her findings with the community. Ruth and her husband moved to Moore County in the 1980s, and the long-time Aberdeen residents fell in love with the Sandhills community.

She takes joy in hand-picking items and knowing that her customers won’t have to shell out exorbitant amounts of money just to find something nice. “They get excited, and I get excited with them,” Ruth said. “I love when they leave smiling.”

When it comes to selecting items for her shop, Ruth only chooses what she believes to be the best of the best. “I want to make sure everything is nice; I won’t sell anything I wouldn’t wear or put in my own home,” she said. She spends hours carefully scouring yard sales and estate sales for the perfect pieces.

Above all else, Ruth wants shoppers to know that she is there for them. Her goal is to help her customers find items they love at prices they can afford. She aims to make customers comfortable as well as happy and to give her shoppers a place where they can find great deals while still having a boutique experience. LillieRose even offers a selection of men’s clothing to ensure no one leaves empty-handed.

Even the name of the shop itself comes from the heart. Ruth named the shop after her sister, Lillie, and her granddaughter, Rose, who both passed away prior to the shop opening.

LillieRose Thrifty Place is located at 1359 Sandhills Blvd within Town & Country Shopping Center. For more information, find LillieRose Thrifty Place on Facebook or call (910) 988-4472.
