Burgess Body Shop and Towing serves with a smile

Hometown pride and service are the driving forces behind Burgess Body Shop and Towing, LLC in Robbins.

Customers are welcome to call 24/7. Owners Frankie and Paula Burgess take turns on the night shift answering service calls. Because when customers need help, they don’t need to wait.

Roads can be dangerous places, and the Burgess family says they don’t want you to lose an arm or a leg — they just want your tows!

Burgess Body Shop and Towing has been in business for 30 years and completes repairs after vehicles are towed to safety in their secured lot. With an eight-car garage, they offer complete restorative repair for collisions and classics, simple bumper replacements, and mechanical repairs.

The team assists with lockouts, breakdowns, and wrecks, working closely with law enforcement. They accept AAA insurance and work with most insurance companies.

The family business employs twin sons, Kyle and Allan, and their daughter-in-law, Deana. Granddaughter, Madeline, is not formerly employed. Her position, though, is one of the most important. As the only grandchild, she is the office jewel, bringing smiles to all.

Zach Garner is a wrecker driver, and Kim Robbins does the bodywork and is their mechanic.

Frankie Burgess talks about his race car while holding his granddaughter, Madeline. Mechanic and restorative bodyworker, Kim Robbins, talks about his job of the day, and Zack Garner talks about the towing service while holding his son, Jayce, on May 2, 2022, at Burgess Body Shop and Towing in Robbins.

When Frankie and Paula Burgess are not working, they’re providing community services wherever they are called to help.

The family went to Shallotte on the last weekend in March to help a nondenominational church, Anchor Holds, home of Soldiers of Mercy Motorcycle Ministry, with a fundraising event. At home in Robbins, the family helps with the homeless, helps raise funds for memorials and for the ill, and helps others through their church, Bright Light Baptist Church.

“We like to help people, and do everything like Jesus would like us to do it,” Paula Burgess said.

When Burgess Body Shop and Towing received a service call for help with an emu on the loose, they drove to Putnam to answer the call for help. The emu had escaped its fence. With assistance from the owner, the emu was roped, and an employee rode in the open-bed truck to keep the frightened bird calm until it was safely at home.
