A woman was pulled from a burning vehicle Thursday afternoon after striking a tree near the border of Aberdeen and Pinebluff. The wreck happened around 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Roseland Road and Batchelor Farm Road.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a Hyundai Elantra left the roadway, hit a tree, and then caught fire. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Bystanders jumped into action. They called 911, broke the car’s windows, and pulled the driver out. The woman was not breathing, so they began to perform CPR until firefighters arrived and took over.

Air care was requested but not available, so the woman was transported by ambulance. She was stabilized at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and has been transferred to Chapel Hill for further treatment.
