Camaro destroyed in Saturday morning fire

A 1997 Camaro was destroyed after catching fire on Saturday morning. The fire took place on Union Church Road, drawing a quick response from the nearby Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue reported that the first unit to arrive on scene found “an engine compartment fire in an older model Camaro.”

In a post made on the department’s official Facebook page, the department wrote that the owner had already knocked down most of the fire with a water hose and extinguisher before crews arrived. Additional units assisted in finishing the job and securing the scene without any further risks or complications.

According to Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, the owner had been attempting to start the vehicle’s engine when the fire began.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the car.
