A Cameron man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, according to Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
Wednesday night, Moore County deputies were dispatched to 520 Wright Road in Vass to a shooting.  When the deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a victim had been shot, and they apprehended the suspect, Richard Gillenwater, age 54.
The victim’s injuries were not considered life threatening; however, the victim was airlifted to Chapel Hill Hospital for treatment.
Gillenwater, who lives in the 700 block of McPherson Road in Cameron, was charged with one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, one count of felony possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of simple possession of marijuana, according to Sheriff Godfrey.
Gillenwater was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. Â He is scheduled to appear in court on September 12th according to arrest records.
