A man was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash outside Carthage Monday afternoon. The crash occurred on Bethlehem Church Rd. near the J. Dowdy intersection just after 2 p.m.
According to authorities on scene, an older model Ford pickup was traveling on Bethlehem Church Road when the driver left the roadway, went down a slight embankment, and hit a tree head-on.
The male driver was the only occupant of the truck and was taken to Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance. Air care was originally called, but was unable to fly due to the rainy weather, according to radio traffic.
The driver’s condition is unknown at the time of this article.
Though it was raining at the time of the crash, no contributing factors were given. The scene is being investigated by the N.C. State Highway Patrol and no further details were available.Â
