Capodanno partners with others to form new conference

Father Vincent Capodanno High School has joined forces with seven other schools to create the Central Carolina Christian Conference (C4).

With their football program having entered the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association’s Big 8 Conference, Father Vincent Capodanno High School has joined with seven other schools to form a conference for their volleyball and basketball programs.

C4 will include, along with Moore County’s Capodanno, the following schools: The Point Christian Academy, Spirit of Life Christian Academy, New Life Christian Academy,  LifeSpring Academy, Northview Baptist Academy, Falcon Academy, and Star Christian Academy.

C4 has clearly defined its mission, goals, values, and philosophy “to bring Christian high school age boys and girls together in a joyful spirit of competition, while developing the values of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.”

C4’s mission statement is “The gift of wisdom helps us understand the things of God and directs our whole lives and actions to His honor and glory. The gift of understanding enables us to know more clearly the mysteries of faith. The gift of counsel helps us to discern right from wrong and assists us in following the path of God. The gift of knowledge enables us to discover God’s will in all things. The gift of piety helps us to love God above all things. The gift of fortitude strengthens our wills to accomplish the will of God and do what is right. The gift of fear of the Lord helps us to recognize the grandeur of God and his supremacy over all things.”

“This is a huge step forward for varsity sports at Fr. Capodanno High School,” said Capodanno Athletic Director Andy Attar. “All of our sports this coming school year will be competing within competitive conferences and with post-season tournament opportunities.”

Only seven years old and still drafting plans for permanent facilities on their newly acquired property on NC-690 in Vass, Capodanno’s sports offers football, volleyball, cross-country, basketball, swimming, and track & field.

“The blessing of being a small school is seeing virtually all the boys and all girls stepping up to train and compete across all the varsity sports,” Attar said. “The year-round conditioning and training never stops for our small student body. Everyone has to be a cross-functional athlete.”
