A driver lost control of his car and crashed down a steep embankment into a creek Thursday. The accident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. on Pine Grove Church Road about six miles outside of Robbins.Â
The driver was entrapped in the vehicle above the water, and firefighters were able to free him quickly. AirCare was called but did not have the weather to fly. He was taken to Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance.Â
“He is lucky,” said a trooper with North Carolina State Highway Patrol. “I believe he is going to be okay. He has some scratches and bruises.” The driver was the only person in the car.Â
The accident is under investigation, but it appeared to highway patrol that the driver may have gone off the road and over-corrected before going down the embankment. It is believed the car hit a tree and rock before going airborne and landing on its side in the creek.
One lane across the bridge on Pine Grove Church Road was closed.Â
The accident is being investigated by highway patrol.
Responding to the scene were Robbins Fire and Rescue, Highfalls Fire and Rescue, Westmoore Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and State Highway Patrol.
