Car overturns in Southern Pines accident

A two-vehicle collision in Southern Pines on Sunday left one vehicle overturned. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 1 at the intersection with Valley View Road at 12:20 p.m.

The driver of a Ford C-Max was traveling south on U.S. 1 when a Toyota Rav4 crossed U.S. 1 in the Ford’s path, according to officials. The Ford struck the Toyota in the rear passenger side causing the Toyota to roll over. Both vehicles ended up on Valley View Road.

The driver of the Toyota was trapped in the vehicle, and firefighters had to cut out the front windshield to gain access to the driver. Both drivers suffered minor injuries, were treated by EMS, and were transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional.

N.C. State Highway Patrol was on the scene and is investigating the accident.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire and Rescue, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
