Icy road conditions contribute to two crashes

Icy road conditions played a factor in two separate accidents in Eagle Springs and West End on Saturday.

A two-vehicle crash in Eagle Springs shut down Highway 211 near Poor Boys Lane around 10 a.m.

An SUV was traveling northbound when the driver lost control from sliding on ice. The vehicle hit a Chevy Tahoe that was traveling southbound. No injuries were reported.

A Chevy Tahoe was hit by an SUV when the driver lost control on ice.

Highway 211 was shut down so that DOT crews could apply salt to the road, and emergency crews could clear the crash.

Four hours later, a driver of a Toyota Scion was traveling southbound in the afternoon on Highway 211, hit ice just after Holly Grove School Road, lost control and crashed on the right shoulder of the road. The car ended up on its passenger side. There were no injuries reported.

Both accidents occurred about a mile apart.
