Carthage man arrested in armed robbery case

A Carthage man was arrested on Feb. 24 in connection to an alleged armed robbery in December of last year.

In a press release, the Whispering Pines Police Department said Ahmari Jones, 18, was arrested and accused of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of felony larceny of a firearm, and felony larceny from a person.

The release did not state who was robbed.

“On December 17, 2022, the Whispering Pines Police Department received a report in reference to an armed robbery,” said the press release. “The incident was investigated and a warrant was secured for the arrest of Jones.”

Aberdeen Police arrested Jones on outstanding and additional charges when he was in Aberdeen.

Jones was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond for the Whispering Pines Police Department’s charges. He is due in court on March 1 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
