A man from Carthage is facing drug charges after being arrested following an investigation, stated Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
Moore County Sheriff’s Department provided a search warrant for the 200 block of Smith Hill Road in Carthage on Tuesday.
“During the investigation, detectives located 2.264 kilograms of cocaine, items of drug paraphernalia, and $8,553.00 in currency,” said Fields.
Forty-year-old Phillip Covington was charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed at Moore County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold. He is due in court on Dec. 13 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.Â
