Police blotter

The Carthage Police Department is creating a surveillance system database in an effort to increase the level of security in its town.

“We are reaching out to citizens who may have surveillance systems such as Nest, Arlo, Ring, etc. that are capable of capturing video from outside of their homes.” said the police department on Friday on its social media page. “Surveillance video such as this will be used to assist (at the owner’s convenience) with investigations if a crime were to occur in a nearby area and the video could be of evidentiary value.”

If you have a home security system and would like to be added to the database, please contact the police station at 910-947-2231 or email or email [email protected].
