Carthage robbery suspect arrested

A 26-year-old woman was arrested in connection to a robbery that occurred in Carthage on Oct. 26. Valiyah Kelly, of Southern Pines, faces a charge of felony common law robbery. 

“A disabled male reported that a former home care nurse unexpectedly showed up at his residence, and he was robbed in his home a short time later by an unknown male,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news release.

Kelly was arrested on Nov. 14 and placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said Fields. “Anyone with information is requested to contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office at 910-947-2931 or the anonymous tip line at 910-947-4444.”

The suspect is expected in court on Nov. 29 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
