Central Carolina Hospital welcomes first baby of the new year

Central Carolina Hospital rang in 2024 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Weighing 7 pounds and measuring 21 inches, baby Amaralis was born to Tyona and Dwayne on Jan. 1, just five minutes after the start of the new year, at 12:05 a.m.

“We are so thrilled to welcome our newest family member,” said Tyona. “The physicians, nurses and staff at Central Carolina Hospital took such great care of us, and we are so thankful to them for making this experience so special.”

Approximately 300 babies are born each year at Central Carolina Hospital. The hospital’s Labor & Delivery Unit is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care close to home for new and expecting parents in the region.

CCH offers five private and spacious labor and delivery suites. Its birthing suites offer amenities such as private bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs, sleeper sofas for dads, central monitoring, and in-room infant care areas. The hospital’s Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides intermediate care by the hospital’s Pediatric Hospitalist group to well neonates and those who require supportive care.

“We have an extraordinary team of clinical and support staff who are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for mothers and their babies on New Year’s Day and year-round,” said Rhonda Quinones, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Interim Director of Obstetrics at CCH. “One of our greatest privileges is helping our community’s families welcome their newest additions in a healthy, positive and memorable way.”
