Collision in Pinehurst injures two

A traffic accident in Pinehurst Wednesday afternoon shut down one lane of a busy road, causing significant delays for some. Emergency units were dispatched to the two-vehicle accident just before 4 p.m. on Morganton Road near the intersection of Doral Drive.

The first units arrived on the scene to find a Honda CR-V had collided with a Kia Rio passenger car leaving the Honda upside down on the shoulder of the road, and the Kia crashed through a fence. Both vehicles had extensive damage.

The two females in the Honda were transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the Kia were checked out but did not require treatment. Air care had originally been requested but was later canceled.

Westbound traffic was turned around at Doral Drive, and eastbound traffic was diverted down Beulah Hill Road to Monticello Drive. Rockwell Towing removed the Honda.

Responding to the scene were Pinehurst Fire Department, Pinehurst Police Department and Moore County EMS.
