UPDATE: Pubic Affairs announced shortly after 4 p.m. that the armed service member was placed under Military Police custody. This was an isolated incident, and no injuries were reported.
The XVIII Airborne Corps Public Affairs announced on Thursday just before 3:30 p.m. that they are aware of an armed individual in the 82nd Airborne Division area.
The Fort Liberty Emergency Services have confirmed that the situation is still active but contained.
Installation law enforcement agencies are on the scene to resolve the situation.
