Concrete truck overturns in Woodlake

A concrete truck overturned just before 1:15 p.m. Friday inside the gated community of Woodlake outside of Vass. 

Authorities were dispatched to the scene in the 800 block of Elderberry Drive.

According to security of the gated community, the truck had just arrived at 1 p.m. 

The truck belonging to Speer Concrete in Carthage was backing into a construction site to pour the foundation. The truck backed over soft gravel when it started to overturn. There was a small amount of concrete that spilled into a ditch. 

The driver appeared to be OK, according to Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue. He was taken to Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance for evaluation. 

The truck suffered heavy damage to the cab. The roof of the cab was smashed on the driver’s side. Rockwell Towing removed the truck from the scene.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

One lane of Elderberry Drive was blocked for emergency vehicles. 

Responding to the scene were Cypress Point Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
