Crews respond to Aberdeen house fire

Though a Friday night house fire consumed inside of an Aberdeen home, no one was injured as a result of the fire.

First responders received a call alerting them to a fire at a dwelling on Linden Road shortly after 7:40 p.m., and fire departments from all across the county were quick to arrive on the scene.

Flames were visible from the outside of the single-story house, having shattered windows and blackened the siding. Firefighters managed to stop the blaze before it spread to nearby vehicles or the surrounding wooded lot.

Authorities on the scene confirmed that the homeowner was not present when the fire started. Half of the inside of the home, however, was reduced to a shell.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

It took nearly an hour for firefighters to extinguish the flames and clear the scene entirely. During this time, deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department closed off Linden Road to traffic due to the amount of fire engines and utility vehicles on the scene.
