A drive-by shooting into a Pinebluff home late Friday night left a dog dead and one person injured, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded just before 10:30 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of shots being fired along Hazlewood Drive. After arriving on scene, they found a residence that had been struck by gunfire and located the shell casings in front of the home.
Upon entering the residence, deputies found a dog that had been struck by the gunfire and killed.
During the investigation, deputies learned that a gunshot victim connected to the incident was being treated at a medical facility outside the area. No details about the victim’s condition were immediately released.
Investigators remained on the scene late Friday night and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The shooting marks the second incident involving gunfire into a residence in the area within the past two weeks.
In a separate incident, Southern Pines Deputy Chief of Police Robert Heaton said officers responded shortly before midnight Jan. 11 to a report of shots fired near Plantation Drive in the Mid-South community. Heaton said a vehicle and a residence sustained damage in that shooting, but no injuries were reported.
Regarding the Southern Pines incident, Chief Heaton asks that anyone with information call the Southern Pines Police Department at 910-692-7031. Information provided can be made anonymously.
The investigations are ongoing.
