A driver was found walking along U.S. 1 Bypass early Monday morning after reportedly crashing his pickup near the Highway 690 overpass in Vass.
Just before 3 a.m., Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue and Moore County EMS were dispatched to the scene of a crashed pickup truck. Upon arrival, crews located the heavily damaged vehicle in the northbound lane after it struck the barrier cable in the median.
Responders did not find anyone inside the vehicle, but the driver was located shortly afterward walking north on the bypass. According to Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue Chief Mike Cameron, the driver was evaluated by EMS and declined further treatment.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and no further details have been released at this time.
