A driver was able to walk away uninjured after crashing his vehicle into a tree near Lobelia on Sunday afternoon. The single-vehicle crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Lobelia Road, just west of McGill Road.
According to authorities on the scene, a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling west toward Vass lost control around a curve, left the roadway on the right side, and slid for several yards before crashing head-on into a tree.
The vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage, but the driver, who was the only occupant, appeared uninjured. He was evaluated by EMS at the scene but refused transport.
One lane of Lobelia Road was temporarily shut down while crews worked the scene.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash. No further details regarding the cause were given at this time.
Responding units included Crains Creek Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
