Child rescued from drowning at Pinebluff Lake

A child was rescued from drowning at Pinebluff Lake on Thursday afternoon.

According to Pinebluff Police Chief Pike Nordgren, a mother was unable to locate her child at the lake.

People began searching in the water, and a man felt the child’s body touch his foot. He immediately grabbed the girl and placed her on the pier. She was not breathing, so they began CPR.

Pinebluff Fire Chief Jonathan Richardson stated that when they arrived on the scene, she did have a pulse and was breathing on her own. She was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital by EMS.

Authorities closed the lake for the rest of the day.

Police are investigating why the child almost drowned. No other details were released at the scene.
