Building, multiple vehicles destroyed in Aberdeen fire

Several vehicles and a structure burned as Moore County fire departments responded to a fire Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of Saunders Boulevard.

The call came in around 1:30 p.m. and was initially reported as an outside fire on the Aberdeen-Southern Pines border. When the first crews arrived, they found a large outbuilding fully involved, with several vehicles burning in and around the structure.

According to radio traffic, firefighters brought the fire under control around 2 p.m.

As of about 3:30 p.m., some crews remained on scene working to extinguish hotspots.

Sandhills Sentinel spoke to the owner of the property, who advised that, along with the building, he also lost five vehicles in the fire.

The outbuilding and affected vehicles were largely reduced to blackened shells.

Responding agencies included Pinehurst Fire Department, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, the N.C. Forest Service, Moore County EMS, and the Aberdeen Police Department.

This is a developing story, and additional details will be released as they become available.
