One person was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident on Midland Road in Southern Pines Sunday evening. The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. when the driver of a Ford pickup truck crashed into several trees in the median.
The truck had just passed by Central Drive headed towards Pinehurst when it ran off the left hand side of the road and into the median. He then struck several trees before coming to rest in the roadway just before the intersection with the entrance to Pine Needles Resort.
The driver was transported by EMS to Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital. Both lanes of westbound traffic were shutdown while emergency crews worked.
Authorities did not release the victim’s identity.
Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
