Two pets were rescued by firefighters after a fire left a home heavily damaged Monday night, according to the Crains Creek Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched around 8:43 p.m. to Heritage Way, just over the Harnett County line, where they found an active fire overtaking the home.
Firefighters conducted primary and secondary searches and located a dog and a small cat inside. Both animals were removed from the home, given oxygen, and found to be stable.
“Both animals received oxygen therapy and showed improvement, and were subsequently entrusted to nearby neighbors for care until the owners arrived home,” reports the Crains Creek Fire Department.

Crews comfort the pets while administering oxygen.
Spout Springs Emergency Services, Crains Creek Fire Department, Anderson Creek Emergency Services, Benhaven Emergency Services, and Fort Bragg Emergency Services all responded and worked together to bring the fire under control, but the structure sustained heavy damage.
No injuries were reported, and a cause has not yet been released.
