Firefighters battle hay fire

On Saturday afternoon, there was a hay fire on Highway 24/27, which Robbins Fire and Rescue successfully extinguished.

The authorities from Moore County Sheriff’s Department reached the site and informed that a trailer carrying around 11 bales of hay was engulfed in flames.

A Chevy pickup was towing a Gator flatbed at the time. The driver pulled off the road and was able to detach the trailer.

Firefighters quickly contained the fire. A team operating a bobcat was called in to aid in the removal of hay, enabling firefighters to put out hot spots and clear the roads.

A stretch of Highway 24/27 between Sunset Drive and Talc Mine Road was closed for an extended period.

It is currently uncertain what caused the fire.
