School bus drivers, monitors honored

Moore County Schools (MCS) bus drivers and monitors were recognized at a celebration at the Village Pine Venue on Friday.

The event, organized by the MCS Transportation Department, was a tribute to the dedicated team of drivers and monitors who ensure the safe transportation of students every day.

The event highlighted Carolyn Penland’s 53 years of dedicated service to the MCS Transportation Department.

“Penland’s unwavering dedication and invaluable contribution exemplify the spirit of excellence and commitment that defines the MCS team,” said the school district in a press release. “As a token of gratitude, all drivers were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation, symbolizing the profound gratitude of the entire Moore County community for their unwavering dedication and service.”

The attendees were served dinner, and there were door prizes and music during the event.

“I want to express my gratitude to all of our bus drivers, monitors, garage and office staff for your hard work and dedication to our transportation system,” said Jason Nelson, director for transportation. “Your contributions are essential to the success of our students and our community. Thank you all for your continued efforts, and I look forward to continuing to work with you all.”
