Man accused of strangling woman at Aberdeen hotel

An Aberdeen man is being held at the Moore County Detention Center under no bond after he allegedly strangled a woman at an Aberdeen hotel. Twenty-five-year-old Jacques McGregor faces charges of felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

Aberdeen Police were called to the AmeriVu Inn & Suites on Sandhills Blvd. on Wednesday.

“The victim identified the suspect as McGregor, and stated he physically assaulted her and strangled her, leaving bruising on her body,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a press release.

Warrants were issued for McGregor.

According to Chavis, he was located at the hotel on Thursday and arrested for the warrants, along with warrants issued by the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Pinebluff Police Department, and Moore County Probation.

According to jail records, McGregor is also being charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun. The offense date is listed as Feb. 20, and the charging agency is Pinebluff Police Department. He is also facing probation violation charges from Moore County Probation. 

He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
