Afternoon fire destroys outdoor buildings, machinery in Cameron

Two outdoor buildings and several pieces of machinery were destroyed in a structure fire on Friday afternoon in Cameron. Emergency responders received a call alerting them to the fire at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, first responders found outdoor buildings and one bulldozer on fire with flames showing. Multiple pieces of related equipment were also dispersed nearby and involved in the fire.

As the fire had spread, multiple stations including Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, Carthage Fire and Rescue, and Whispering Pines Fire and Rescue were paged to respond with assistance for the structure fire and neighboring brush fire.

Moore County EMS arrived on the scene and evaluated the residents of the property for any injuries. However, all residents were physically unharmed and did not require transportation via EMS at the time of initial evaluation.

This incident is actively under investigation.

Additionally responding to the scene were the Moore County Fire Marshal’s Office, North Carolina Forest Service, and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
