Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue reported on its Facebook page they contained a 2.5-acre woodland fire at 4565 Dowd Road near West End at 4 a.m. on Tuesday.
West End Fire and Rescue assisted in containing the fire until N.C. Forest Service arrived with a plow and dug a line around the fire to burn itself out.
“Be advised there will be lingering smoke in the area throughout the day,” said Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue.
