First Bank in Vass was robbed at gunpoint Thursday. Two suspects fled on foot and were last seen traveling south on Seaboard Street, according to Vass Police Chief Tim Blakeley. The crime happened just shortly after 11:00 a.m. with no injuries reported.
Police described one suspect as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches or 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey checkered flannel shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a baseball cap that appears to have a Charlotte Hornets logo on the front.
The suspect’s face was covered by a blue bandana during the robbery, and he was carrying a sawed-off shotgun and blue duffle bag.
The second suspect acted as a look out and is described as approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants.
The police stated the suspects received an undisclosed amount of money from the robbery. Vass-Lakeview Elementary School was placed on lock down as a precautionary measure.
This is the second time First Bank has been robbed this year. In January, the bank was robbed with no arrests.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said, “If you have any information to identify the suspects, or you saw anything suspicious around the area of the bank today, call FBI Charlotte at 704-672-6100. “
