APD announces arrest for felony solicitation of minor by computer for an unlawful sexual act

The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Dustin Goodroe, 20, of Fort Bragg.

On Jan. 26, Aberdeen investigators received a report of a missing juvenile.

Aberdeen investigators responded and began tracking down possible leads of her whereabouts. After further investigation, investigators identified Goodroe as a person of interest.

“Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Goodroe had solicited the juvenile for sex after having explicit conversations with her via the internet,” said the Aberdeen Police Department in a news advisory.

With the assistance of the Army Criminal Investigations Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, later in collaboration with Moore County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, search warrants were executed, and additional interviews were conducted, which led to warrants being obtained on Goodroe for felony solicitation of a minor by computer device for an unlawful sexual act. Warrants were also obtained for felony first-degree kidnapping by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

On Feb. 14, Goodroe was located by Aberdeen and Moore County investigators with the assistance of Ft. Bragg CID. Goodroe was taken before a Moore County magistrate, who gave him a $150,000 secured bond.
