Obituary for Vicki Marion Comer of Cameron

Vicki Marion Comer, age 73, of Cameron, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A native of Moore County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Marion and Pansy Richardson Teague. Vicki worked and thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher’s assistant for Moore County Schools for many years. She was an active member of Ephesus Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, played handbells, and loved teaching at Vacation Bible School every summer. She played piano since childhood, and it brought her joy to play every Sunday for church services, especially the old gospel hymns. Vicki loved to read, cook (her family recipe of homemade “chewbread” was beloved), and was a whiz at crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. She was compassionate, generous, and had the biggest heart for anyone who needed it, often putting others’ needs before her own. She lived and loved deeply and wholeheartedly, especially in regard to her family and her faith. She had written in her Bible that her life verse was Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Comer, and grandson, Joseph Hardin.

She is survived by her children, Russell Comer and wife Teena of Vass, Beverly Townsley and husband Jason of San Antonio, TX, Phillip Comer and his wife Kerri of Sanford, Amanda Comer of Knightdale; sister Kay Mitchell and husband Jim of Sanford; brother Alex Marion and wife Lisa of Vass; grandchildren Hannah, Jordan, Elijah, and Skylar.

The family will receive friends at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Cameron Church Cemetery with Pastor Mike Garner officiating.
