An arrest has been made in an Aberdeen shooting that left one man airlifted in critical condition on Aug. 5.
Raheem Mahad Ewing, 43, of West End, was arrested on Aug. 10 and is facing assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Officers with the Aberdeen Police Department were dispatched at 8:16 p.m. to the Woodlawn Apartments on Magnolia Drive after receiving reports of shots fired.
While officers were en route, dispatchers received another call reporting that a person was lying on the ground and screaming for help.
When officers arrived, they reportedly found a 39-year-old Pinebluff man suffering from two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and one to the shoulder. The victim was flown to an area trauma center in critical condition after first responders administered life-saving measures.
Police told Sandhills Sentinel on scene that they identified a suspect of interest and were conducting a search of the area Wednesday night with the assistance of K-9 units.
Authorities said the shooting appeared to have been an isolated incident.
