Flyers strengthen volleyball team with local standout Emma Clark

A 6’0″ standout from Pinecrest High School, Clark brings versatility, experience, and a strong competitive spirit to the 2026 roster. She has been playing volleyball since age 12 and has excelled as a right side, pin hitter, and defensive specialist—making her a valuable all-around addition to the program.

Clark comes to Sandhills after a decorated prep career that includes All-Conference honors in 2023, back-to-back selections to the JVA Watchlist (2023, 2024), and recognition as an AVCA Phenom in both seasons. During her time at Pinecrest, she helped lead her team to a combined 40–17 record and a perfect 28–0 mark in conference play over her sophomore and junior years. Emma also competed for ACS Volleyball Club from ages 12–15 before joining Triangle Volleyball Club for her 16s and part of her 17s seasons.

Already a Sandhills student, Clark chose SCC Volleyball because of the coaching staff, the tight-knit team culture, and the opportunity to rediscover her love for the game.

“When I went on my visit I knew it was going to be a place where I can rebuild my relationship with volleyball—and I was right,” she shared. She plans to pursue an Associate in Science with the goal of transferring to a four-year institution.

Off the court, Emma is passionate about her faith and is helping start a Bible study group with her friends aimed at building community and sharing encouragement.

Looking ahead, she is eager to compete again after time away from high school play. “I’m so excited to get back on the court in a game-day setting and grateful for more time at home with my family,” she said.

Flyers Head Coach Alicia Riggan is excited about what Clark brings to the program, “Versatile, smart, and explosive—that’s Emma Clark. She plays with a high volleyball IQ, moves with quick speed, and delivers a great swing and block at the net. Her ability to contribute from anywhere on the court adds a critical edge to our front-line.”
