Get ready to par-tee: Double Eagle bringing virtual golf lounge to S.P.

Moore County, sporting one of the best golf locales in the country, is about to get even better for golf enthusiasts with the opening of Double Eagle Indoor Golf and Lounge in Southern Pines on Brucewood Road. The first of its kind in the area, this virtual game center is set to become a hotspot for golf lovers and newcomers alike, offering a fresh and immersive golfing experience with a bar and lounge for “chilling out.”

Co-owner Emily White and fellow owners Cory White, Roger Powell, and Barbara Powell believe golf is approachable and can easily be for anyone of any background. Determined to bridge the gap and create a fun-filled space for the community, these four set out to bring indoor virtual golf to Moore County.

“It’s nice to get a change of scenery and enjoy the sport off the course,” encourages Emily. “We’re making golf approachable and accessible. We can’t wait to get started, be part of the community, and become a Moore County staple.”

The venue offers a blend of golf and socializing, featuring four bays that can be reserved by the hour. Guests can play casual games solo or with friends, bring their own trainers, or meet a Double Eagle pro.

One of the center’s highlights is the impressive Trackman Library, boasting over 200 virtual courses worldwide. Players can indulge in the sunny landscapes of Portugal, San Diego, Hawaii, and more — all from the comfort of the Sandhills.

According to Emily, inspiration struck during the COVID lockdown. “During COVID, we got really into golf,” she explained. “We found that during off-time — nights, bad weather, off-season — we still wanted to play.” With the addition of Double Eagle, playing during off-times is possible.

The Double Eagle team hopes the addition of the lounge offers something new, unique, and fun for the community. Both families moved to the area several years ago for the military but quickly fell in love with the Sandhills and decided to call Moore County home. With Roger and Cory retiring from the military in the coming years, the quartet decided to take the plunge and open Double Eagle this fall.

Beyond golf, Double Eagle offers a complete lounge featuring a bar, snacks, couches, and multiple TVs. A menu of snacks — including fun choices such as chips, jerky, and charcuterie boards — will be available. Still, Double Eagle has another unique trick up its sleeve: customers are welcome to bring their own food from nearby restaurants or even have it DoorDashed right to the storefront.

Emily explained rather than offer a full dining menu, the team would rather encourage patrons to support the many preexisting restaurants nearby. They hope visitors will feel at home to “chill out” while taking in games, television, good food, and even better company.

With smooth sailing and everything on track, Double Eagle Indoor Golf and Lounge is set to open its doors to the public on October 1.
