Glendon home burns in early morning fire

Crews with the High Falls, Carthage, and Cypress Pointe fire departments stopped a blaze from leveling a home in the Glendon area early Monday morning, according to Carthage Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters arrived to find flames tearing through the upper levels of the house. The second story of the house was heavily burned, the windows shattered, and the siding blackened and melted.

Crews from surrounding areas quickly deployed hose lines and worked with neighboring departments to contain the blaze. Their coordinated efforts prevented flames from reaching other sections of the structure.

“Thanks to fast action and coordination, fire attack operations successfully prevented the spread of fire to additional sections of the structure,” writes Carthage Fire and Rescue on their Facebook page.

Often, teamwork among multiple mutual aid agencies is credited in successful fire management.

“Teamwork is key in incidents like this,” adds Carthage Fire and Rescue, “and once again, strong cooperation between multiple mutual aid departments made a big difference.”
