Debra Griggs, who has almost three decades of nursing and administration experience in the senior living industry, has been named Administrator of The Health Center for St. Joseph of the Pines.

“There has never been a time in history when providing excellent health care for older adults was more important than it is today,” Griggs said. “With 10,000 people turning 65 every day for the next 17 years, the need for outstanding aging services is great.”

Griggs, who started on Jan. 6, learned about the opening from a colleague and did not hesitate to apply.

“I’ve always heard such fabulous things about St. Joseph of the Pines,” she said. “I left a very good facility, but I’ve hit a different milestone in my life with my youngest child about to graduate from high school. So, I am looking forward to relocating to Moore County.”

Griggs previously served as Administrator at Mullins Nursing Center, a 92-bed, dual-certified facility in Mullins, S.C. She has also worked for PruittHealth Rockingham in North Carolina and Dundee Manor, Morrell Nursing and Rehab Center and The Pines Healthcare Center in South Carolina.

SJP President Tim Buist said Griggs brings “an outstanding track record of success” to the position and will be a valuable addition to the Senior Management Team.

“Debra clearly stood out among a crowded field of strong candidates,” Buist said. “St. Joseph of the Pines is positioning itself to meet the needs of the next generation of older adults. Debra’s extensive background in nursing and administration will help us shape the message, products and services that resonate with that generation while ensuring that we always provide quality care.”

The Health Center is a 176-bed skilled nursing facility that also provides short- and long-term rehabilitation services. It offers 24-hour nursing care to residents from the Sandhills region as well as individuals within the St. Joseph of the Pines continuum of care.

“St. Joseph of the Pines is proactively preparing for future residents while improving the quality of life for current residents,” Griggs said. “It’s an exciting time to join this team and play an integral role in sustaining that positive momentum.”

Griggs earned associate degrees in Nursing and Science from Darlington Community College in South Carolina.

St. Joseph of the Pines is an aging services network offering a full continuum of retirement housing, health care and community-based services for older adults as well as community outreach to those in need.

It is a Trinity Health Senior Community continuing the legacy of the Sisters of Providence.
