Heavy smoke expected in Aberdeen as firefighters conduct live burn

People can expect to see heavy smoke in Aberdeen as local firefighters participate in live-fire training exercises in Aberdeen.

The training will take place at 105 N. Pine Street between March 1 – 5. The exercises for local fire departments will “involve the burning of the residential structure.”

Aberdeen Fire Department said the heavy smoke will not be constant for the week, but heavy smoke will be present from “time to time.”

“It is our plan not to create any traffic problems however, the portion of N. Pine St. in front of the structure and Exchange St. beside the structure will be shut down at times during the exercise for safety precautions,” said Aberdeen Fire Department. “During and after this event a safe zone will be marked off with caution tape, please stay outside of this area for your safety. During this time, please avoid the area if possible and if in the area please use caution.”

By conducting these exercises, fire crews will be better prepared for emergencies in the future.
