The Moore County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a domestic-related shooting outside of Vass on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. in the 100 block of Liberty Lane.
“We have deputies at the scene of a domestic incident on Liberty Lane in which one person has been shot,” said Chief Deputy Andy Conway with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.Â
The man was transported by EMS to a makeshift landing zone created by the Carthage Fire Department in a field at the intersection of Union Church Road and Ring Road, where a medevac helicopter flew the patient to an area trauma center. His condition is currently unknown.
Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue announced on its social media page that the man sustained “two gunshot wounds” and there is “no ongoing threat to the public.”
Sheriff’s investigators arrested Sara Kinz, 47, of Carthage, and charged her with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor.

Kinz was committed to the Moore County Detention Center without bond, pending her first court appearance scheduled for September 18.The incident remains under investigation by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office
