Law enforcement responded to Brookside Park Apartments on Richards Street for a shooting on Sunday around 4:30 p.m.
The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle before the police arrived.
According to Southern Pines Deputy Police Chief Charles Campbell, the victim in the shooting was a juvenile, and their wounds were not life-threatening. Campbell told Sandhills Sentinel the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Southern Pines Police had a large parking lot area cordoned off with crime scene tape. There were at least 15 evidence markers clustered in one area by shell casings that littered the ground.
Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department arrived to assist in the investigation.
