Man arrested after narcotics found at Samarcand Training Academy

On July 23, sheriff’s investigators responded to a report of possible narcotics being located at the Samarcand Training Academy in Jackson Springs. Investigators confirmed that the substance was methamphetamine and that it allegedly belonged to a former employee, 45-year-old Richard Smith of Seven Lakes.

Smith was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $7,500.00 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on August 8.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
