Man arrested for intentionally setting fire that burned multiple cars

A 55-year-old man from Robbins is accused of intentionally setting a fire that destroyed multiple cars on his property on Saturday.

By the time responding units arrived at the home on Providence Chapel Road, two vehicles were already engulfed in flames. According to authorities, the fire started when one vehicle, a BMW, caught fire and spread to an adjacent Chevrolet Silverado.

In a Tuesday news release following the arrest of Alex Farris, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said, “Multiple vehicles had been burned, and a carport sustained damage.”

Farris is facing charges of three counts of felony burning of personal property and one count of misdemeanor injury to personal property.

He was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond. He is due in court on Jan. 16.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
