A Lillington man has been charged in a felony theft case after investigators reviewed surveillance footage showing a suspect allegedly stealing merchandise from the Aberdeen Walmart, police said.
According to the Aberdeen Police Department, officers responded to the store on Oct. 12 after a reported larceny. They were given a suspect description and searched the area, but they were unable to locate the individual or the vehicle involved.
“Officers reviewed video surveillance and confirmed that the subject entered the store and selected numerous items to include meats, tools, and electronics, totaling over $1,700.00,” reports the Aberdeen Police Department. “The subject then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.”
By Nov. 3, officers had identified Lenterrell Ray, 29, as the suspect. Investigators obtained warrants charging him with felony larceny and felony possession of stolen property, but attempts to locate him in Aberdeen were unsuccessful.
Ray was apprehended on Nov. 21 by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken before a magistrate in Harnett County and received a $50,000 secured bond.
All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
