Soon, the Tyler’s Ridge Shopping Center in Southern Pines will have a new pizza restaurant.
Franchise owner Teresa Salter, from Lee County, will open her second Marco’s Pizza location at the shopping center on N.C. 22 near the Moore County Airport. Her other location is in Cameron in Harnett County.
Salter moved to North Carolina four years ago to help her brother open a Marco’s Pizza. He then helped her open her first location.
“We are a close competitive family; my sister owns two Marco’s Pizza locations in Texas. Our first stores actually opened on the same day, but she beat me to store 2,” said Salter.
Marco’s Pizza in Southern Pines will employ approximately 35 people and will offer carryout and delivery. Salter will hire delivery drivers and not use a third-party delivery service. They will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m and open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“I have always liked Southern Pines, and the area is growing,” said Salter. “And there is not a lot of dining options in that area. When we heard about the new development, we knew it was the right location. I have a customer who drives from Southern Pines/Pinehurst to buy six weeks of pizzas and freezes them, he has done this for years. I told him I would open a store there one day.
“My husband is in the US Army and got orders overseas shortly after finding the site. With our long-term goals in mind, we decided to go for it! I decided to stay here with kids, run the current store and open this location.”
Marco’s Pizza offers calzones, subs, salads, brownies, wings, pizza bowls and of course, pizza. Pizza bowls are a great alternative for customers that are watching their carbs.
“We make our dough daily in the store and use local fresh produce,” said Salter.
She plans to open the new location in mid to late May.
